Vikram Raju, Umpire Behind Cricket’s Historic 1986 Tied Test, Dies at 92 (X)
New Delhi: Former international umpire V Vikram Raju, who is known as one of the two umpires who stood in the famous tied Test between India and Australia in then Madras (now Chennai) in September 1986, passed away at the age of 92 due to age-related illness in Mysuru on Sunday.
V Vikram Raju umpired two Tests and five ODIs, and also officiated in 42 first-class matches. He is best remembered for the historic 1986 tied Test between India and Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, which was only the second tied Test in cricket history.
It was the only second tied Test in the history of cricket then, and the first instance was the match between Australia and the West Indies in Brisbane in 1960.

The KSCA in a statement said that, "It is with profound grief and deep sorrow that the President and the Managing Committee of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) mourn the demise of Vikram Raju, former International Umpire."
"He served the game of cricket with great distinction and integrity over several decades. As an umpire, he earned recognition at the highest levels of the sport," the statement read.
